01
Chinese
Breaded and tossed to order
The wok classics people came in for before the name on the door changed: orange, sesame and General's chicken battered and dropped per ticket, Mongolian and Szechuan beef straight off the wok with no batter at all.
02
Korean
Off the grill, over rice
Marinated bulgogi charred on the flat-top and built into a bowl with kimchi, cucumber and a fried egg. Kimchi jjigae simmers in the back for the days that call for it.
03
Vietnamese
Broth simmered in house
Pho stock goes on early and stays on. Grilled lemongrass pork over broken rice or cold vermicelli with herbs, pickles and nuoc cham on the side.
04
Thai
Basil, chili, tamarind
Pad thai with real tamarind, basil fried rice with enough chili to notice, and wings tossed in fish sauce and basil that regulars order two of.
The room
Green wall, red fan, lucky cat.
A boxwood wall runs the length of the counter, with a pop-art wok mural bolted to it
and a hand-painted maneki-neko watching the pass. Bamboo climbs the wall in the dining
room under a red folding fan. It is brighter and more deliberate than the room you
expect at this price.
Order at the register, take any table, and eat off a real plate if you are staying.
